Flawless skin is the ultimate goal, but how do we reach it? We are constantly inundated with the latest beauty treatments, like injecting salmon for plumper skin, to HIFU treatments which boast skin tightening, but unfortunately can also lead to sagging ( the heat can melt away our fat). So, what is the solution? Easy, it’s microneedling or using a derma roller. Derma rolling has stood the test of time as a revolutionary treatment that is scientifically proven to work. Not only that, but derma rolling is non ablative and has no side effects ( unless you have Collagen Induction Therapy in a clinic).
If you are confused or unsure about what treatment to use, then start with microneedling or derma rolling at home. It is cost effective, has no downtime and the needles do not hurt at all. Using a derma roller takes only 3 minutes, a few times a week and is easily incorporated into your existing skincare routine. Derma rolling is your go-to treatment if you are wanting to rejuvenate your skin, boost collagen or simply get more “bang for your buck” by supercharging your antiaging creams and serums, and pushing them deeper into your skin.
Below we are going to discuss tips to help you get the results from dermarolling at home.
Expert Tips for Microneedling Success
- Start dermarolling slowly
Consistency is key, so if you are new to microneedling start with needles that are Derma Roller .3mm long. We recommend our Relax and Roll .3mm Beginner Derma Roller. Starting slowly allows you to get used to the sensation of derma rolling and will allow your skin time to adjust to the treatment. - Derma rolling consistency is key.
Just like we mentioned above, you need to use your derma roller regularly to see improvements. Why? Because it takes up to 3 months for our skin cells to turnover and rejuvenate. So, how often should you use your derma roller? After conducting a test patch for a week on your skin to ensure it can tolerate microneedling, we recommend you roll at least 3-5 times weekly to reap the benefits. An exception to this, is if you are using needles longer than .5mm derma roller If you are, you will need to roll less frequently as it is important to allow time for your skin to heal in between the microneedling sessions. - Listen to your skin
We always recommend beginners test a roller with their existing skincare products for the first week. This is especially important if you’re using highly active ingredients like retinoids, Vitamin C or AHA’s like glycolic. Combining these ingredients with a derma roller can lead to increased dryness, mild peeling or even skin irritation. This is because the derma roller is pushing the active ingredients deeperi to your skin. If a reaction occurs, discontinue derma rolling until your skin has healed, then either reduce the frequency of your sessions or switch to shorter needles. - Don’t overdo using a derma roller
Whilst it may be very tempting to roll more frequently or aggressively, please don’t. Our derma roller is designed with high precision, medical grade, stainless steel needles. You never need to push the roller into your skin or roll excessively over one area, multiple times per week. Doing so will likely do more harm than good. Please follow our instructions carefully, and if you have any queries do not hesitate to contact us, we are available via phone or email to help you get the best microneedling experience possible. - Choose the best derma roller
This is a critical step so listen up! Using a high quality derma roller will have a direct impact on your results. We only manufacture and supply TGA approved derma rollers. They are made with real needles, not fake ones. Our needles have been scientifically engineered with sharp, diamond tipped technology. This ensures you get the best results possible without damaging your skin. As the saying goes “ nothing good is cheap, and nothing cheap is good!” So, as tempting as it may be to buy a cheap derma roller from Amazon or Temu, please avoid it at all costs! Most of these cheap derma rollers are not made with real needles. They are made with cheap materials like titanium which are thick spikes or pointy teeth. They are not real needles, they are fake derma rollers. They can tear your skin and cause damage. They also usually have around 540 needles which is simply a marketing tactic to make you think the more needles the better! This is not true. Dermatologists and Doctors who use derma rollers for CIT, burns and scar treatment only use rollers with real needles that have medical grade stainless steel. - Replace your derma roller frequently
To continually enhance the benefits of derma rolling, you will need to replace your roller as soon as the needles start to feel blunt. On average this may mean purchasing a new DR. DERMACARE derma roller every 3 months.Microneedling with a derma roller is a powerful and effective way to improve the appearance of your skin.
